08 The Concerto Of Inspiration And Imagination

The first year students at Totsuki Academy go to training camp as the first major hurdle as about half of the first year students are expelled during the event.

I feel exactly the same at work, don't worry Megumi

 The students are given various challenges with alumni from the school brought in to be judges. The first challenge for Soma's group that includes Megumi and the Aldini twins Takumi and Isami is to make a dish that can be served at a Japanese restaurant using ingredients gathered from nature in the area surrounding the kitchen with Hinako Inui judging the students.

I feel that for a show that was pretty realistic and well researched smelling someones hair gel 30ft away is a bit too far.

 Takumi challenges Soma to a duel to see who can cook the better dish as they both specialize in diner-style dishes. Most of the students gather fish while the Aldini twins find a duck for their dish. They are the first to complete their dish and Inui passes them.

09 The Breading To Adorn The Mountains

Having come up with ideas to make a dish, Soma makes a list of ingredients for he and Megumi to gather.

I have a little bit of a Megumi obsession

 Soma takes Inui's kaki peanuts understanding that any ingredient found in the area can be used. Soma and Megumi gather ingredients and arrive with 15 minutes left and they make the Char Okakiage using the peanuts as a crust for the fish. 

So hungry right now

Inui expresses her satisfaction and passes Soma and Megumi, but she does not declare a winner as she is ordered to depart immediately. Takumi leaves vowing to challenge Soma to a Shokugeki should they meet again. The students return to the hotel where they are ordered to cook 50 servings of a steak dish to serve to the Bodybuilding Club. Soma finishes quickly and heads to the public bath where he runs into Erina who was just leaving the bath. 

Some of the music they use when people are eating the food is just hilarious and definitely adds to the show.
The story line .... is going somewhere. Where ? I don't know i feel this needs to be elaborated more. We obviously know hes at Totsuki because he wants to beat his dad but it just needs something more.

So far its good but its not great I feel like it needs more ingredients to the story but I'm sure things will heat up, I would rate Food Wars! 7 out of 10.
